How it works

From a quiet conversation to a treasured recipe, in three steps.

Record

Tap Record and let them cook, talk, or read from a card, or snap a photo of the original. ReciKey listens, so there's no need to interrupt or write anything down.

ReciKey structures it

ReciKey transcribes voice and video into clean ingredients and steps. The original recording stays attached, so the voice stays with the recipe.

Cook & share

Save to your private library and invite the family you want. Everything stays private by default, and when you're ready, you can share a dish with the whole ReciKey community on Discover.

Why ReciKey

Every recipe is a love letter from a kitchen that won't always be here.

Family recipes carry voices, accents, hands, and habits that no cookbook can hold. ReciKey was built to keep those things, not just the ingredients.

Voices that won't be here forever.

Capture the way she laughs mid-recipe, the way he says "a little more" instead of measuring. Record while you still can.

Private to your family.

Private by default. No algorithm deciding what you see. We never sell your data. You choose who sees each recipe, and you can post to Discover only when you want to.

The way grandma actually talks.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is ReciKey?
ReciKey is a family recipe preservation app that turns voice recordings, videos, and photos of handwritten recipe cards into clean, structured recipes you can cook from. It's for families, chosen family, and close friends who want to capture the voices, techniques, and stories behind generations of cooking before they're lost.
How do I preserve my grandma's recipes before it's too late?
Open ReciKey, tap Record, and let her cook or talk through a recipe naturally. ReciKey records the audio (or video), transcribes it, and structures the result into a recipe card with ingredients, steps, and her original voice attached. You don't have to interrupt her or write anything down.
Does the person sharing the recipe need to know how to use the app?
No. You hold the phone and tap Record while they cook or talk through the dish their own way. They never have to touch the app, type anything, or measure exactly. ReciKey listens and turns what they said into a clean recipe, with their voice kept alongside it.
Can ReciKey transcribe a handwritten recipe card?
Yes. Snap a photo of a handwritten or printed recipe card and ReciKey extracts the ingredients and instructions into an editable, structured recipe. You can keep the original photo attached to the recipe so the handwriting stays with the recipe.
What if ReciKey gets an ingredient or step wrong?
Every recipe ReciKey creates is fully editable. You can fix a word, adjust an amount, reorder steps, or add a note at any time, and the original recording or photo stays attached so you can always check it against the source.
Is ReciKey private? Who can see my family's recipes?
Your recipes are private to you by default. You choose who to share with by inviting family members directly, and your private recipes never leave the circle you pick. If you ever want to share a dish more widely, you can post it to Discover, our opt-in community feed, but that's always your choice, recipe by recipe. We never sell your data.
Who creates the recipes I find in the community?
Community and Discover recipes are shared by other families and cooks, not written or verified by ReciKey. They're real home recipes, so treat them the way you would a recipe from a friend: give it a read, and always check the ingredients against your own allergies and dietary needs before you cook. You decide what's right for your kitchen.
What does ReciKey cost?
ReciKey is free to start. The Free plan includes unlimited hand-typed recipes, unlimited family recipe and family-tree sharing, a one-time pool of 15 free ReciKey-made recipes to start, and 500 MB of cloud storage. The Individual plan ($4.99/month or $39.99/year) adds unlimited recipe imports from links, 100 monthly AI credits shared across transcription, photo scanning, and AI recipe photos, and 10 GB of storage. The Family plan ($19.99/month or $159.99/year) adds the same unlimited imports, 400 shared monthly AI credits, 75 GB shared storage, and covers up to 5 family members on a single subscription.
What devices does ReciKey work on?
ReciKey is in private beta for iPhone, coming to the App Store soon. It syncs your recipes securely across your devices through your private account, so a new phone picks up right where you left off.
Do I need internet to use ReciKey?
You need a connection to record a new recipe and to sync across devices, but your saved recipes are stored on your phone, so you can open and cook from them even when you are offline in the kitchen.
Can I capture a recipe by video, not just audio?
Yes. You can capture a recipe by video, by audio, by photographing a handwritten card, or by typing it in, whatever fits the moment. Video keeps the cook's hands, techniques, and voice together with the written recipe.
Can I organize recipes by family member?
Yes. ReciKey builds a family tree where each person has their own card, and recipes are attributed to whoever they came from, so Grandma's dishes live on Grandma's card. Family members you invite can add their own recipes too.
Can ReciKey translate a recipe into another language?
Yes. Recipes are preserved in their original language, and any recipe can be translated into your language on demand (a paid-plan feature), helpful for multilingual families passing dishes across generations.
What languages does ReciKey work in?
The ReciKey app is available in English, Spanish, and Portuguese. Recipes are kept in the language they were shared in, and any recipe can be translated on demand (a paid-plan feature), so a dish can pass between generations that speak different languages.
Can I export my recipes, and what happens if I cancel?
Your recipes are yours. You can export your data at any time, and if you cancel a paid plan you keep all your recipes on the free plan, which includes unlimited recipes. Nothing is deleted or held hostage.
